A ring of waterfalls lies within reach of Ubud, and the gap between the nearest and the farthest is huge. This page sets every fall on one map with a drive time, a district, a fee line and the tours that link them.

Main points first
Every time on this page comes from the car routing of the OpenStreetMap project, measured from Puri Saren Agung, the palace in the middle of Ubud, with no traffic, no parking and no wrong turn.1 It is a clean number that you can compare across falls, and it understates a real afternoon. Bali roads fill with scooters, trucks and processions, and a ceremony can close a lane for an hour.
The tour listings add their own picture. The site tour lists a transfer of 1 hour at the start and another 1 hour at the end, with several stops between them. A 6-hour day and a 10-hour day are both offered, so the time you spend on the road depends mostly on how many stops the guide fits in. Use the routing figure to rank falls and the listing figure to plan a day.
There is one more habit worth borrowing. A source on Tegenungan reminds readers that fees, hours and travel times can differ depending on repairs and on how fast you drive.9 Build slack into any plan, particularly if you have a flight, and never tie a waterfall stop to a booked slot like a dinner reservation.

Routes: OpenStreetMap project, car profile, no traffic. Fees as printed by the cited sources on their own dates.1,2,3,4,5,6,17,8,7,10,12
Tegenungan Waterfall is 11.6 km from the palace by the routing, about 11 minutes, in Sukawati District of Gianyar.1,10 Kanto Lampo is almost the same distance at 11.4 km and 11 minutes, in Beng village.2,11 Tibumana sits farther east at 15.2 km and 17 minutes, in Apuan village, which belongs to Susut District in Bangli Regency, not Gianyar.3,12
Each has its own character. Tegenungan is a lowland cascade with around 167 steps down, a pool zone and daily hours of 06:30 to 18:30.13,14 Kanto Lampo is a stepped fall about 15 m high with a gentle flow, close to the village.15 Tibumana is described by a Bali culture portal as more hidden than the better known falls.16 If you are at a loss for which to take first, choose the one whose character matches the day you want.
The district matters on the ground. Gianyar and Bangli each run their own roads and their own village committees, so entrance habits differ even a few kilometers apart. Kanto Lampo's official site lists Rp25,000 per person for entry on weekdays, while a magazine report puts the Tibumana car park contribution at IDR 10,000.8,7 Those are posted amounts at different dates, not a like for like comparison. For an Ubud waterfall that fits around a normal day, start with the nearest ring.
Tukad Cepung lies 38 km from the palace by the routing, about 32 minutes, farther than the near falls above.4 The site tour lists it with a walk and a swim, and its own listing warns that the way in goes down steps and through shallow water, with a moderate effort on the return uphill. That is not a casual stroll.
The listing recommends comfortable shoes and says that after rain some stops may be adjusted for safety. Pair that with the Bali culture portal's warning for Tibumana, a place it calls prone to potential landslides, and the lesson is simple: the wetter the week, the more you should let your guide decide the order of falls.19
What do you gain by going farther? A fall that has fewer people on its stair and a day in the countryside north-east of Ubud. What do you lose? Time on the road, and a fixed order that leaves less room to swap stops. For a first visit with a single day to spare, the near ring is the efficient choice; for a second visit, Cepung is a good reason to leave the town behind.

Nungnung Waterfall is about 32 km from Ubud and 50 minutes by the routing.5 Sekumpul is about 66.9 km and 69 minutes away.6 Both are far enough that nothing else fits in the same half-day, and neither belongs in a loop with the near ring.
The dedicated Sekumpul page of this site gives the far fall its own plan, since the drive is the biggest cost.6 Here the point is the shape of the choice: the routing gives 11, 11 and 17 minutes for the near falls, then a jump to 32, 50 and 69.1,3,4,5,6 Chart those numbers and you see a staircase rather than a smooth slope.
A decent rule is to treat the near ring as a morning and the far ones as a day by themselves, with an early start. If your hotel is in Ubud, a driver for the day can take either; if you are staying in Canggu or Seminyak, the distance from Ubud adds to every figure here. A Tegenungan Waterfall distance from Ubud of about 10 km is quoted by the provincial tourism office.20

Tegenungan: detikBali listed Rp20,000 per person for the main entry, Rp20,000 for the upper level and Rp5,000 per car for parking in November 2024, with hours from 06:30 to 18:30.17,14 Kanto Lampo: detikBali lists Rp25,000 and hours from 06:30 to 18:00 in the same article, and the official site agrees on Rp25,000 per person for weekday visits.23,8
Tibumana: the culture portal says visitors are welcome every day except Nyepi, between 6 am and 6 pm.24 A magazine report puts the fee at a contribution of IDR 10,000 at the car park and the walk to the falls at around 15 minutes.7 Notice that the three differ in how the fee is described: a ticket, a donation and a contribution. The names matter less than the habit of carrying small notes.
The tour price is separate. The site tour is listed from $14 for a private tour, and the listing does not itemize entrance money. Ask your guide which entrances are included before you hand over cash, and keep a few notes aside for parking, toilets and the donation box at any shrine.

The site tour runs Tegallalang, Tirta Empul, Tukad Cepung, Kanto Lampo plus Tibumana, with lunch optional at a local restaurant near the temple. A second listing starts at Tegallalang, visits Tirta Empul, then takes in Goa Raja, Kanto Lampo and Tibumana over 8 to 9 hours. A third lists Kanto Lampo, Goa Raja, Tukad Cepung and Tegallalang over 5.5 to 10 hours.
Notice what the lists have in common: they bundle falls that sit on the same side of Ubud. That is not a secret; it is the same geography as the map above. None of the three lists Tegenungan, so if that fall matters to you, look at the listings on the Tegenungan page or add a short stop by arrangement with your driver.
The site tour holds the strongest review signal of these loops, with 6,668 reviews at a rating of 4.96. That figure says nothing about any single fall, but it does say that a great many people booked this loop and rated the day well.
